Golfing Break Midlothian Scotland
Package Details to be announced May
2008
As the home of golf, Scotland can provide one of
the most challenging environments for the golfing enthusiast.
The County Hotel is fortunate to be located in one of Scotland’s
best regions for golf. Close by, we have 19 courses catering
for golfers of all abilities and tastes ranging from traditional,
sandy links courses with beautiful sea views to leafy, parkland
greens in the centre of Edinburgh.
Golf Courses You Might
Like to tryA visit to the area would not be complete unless you
could return home to tell everyone you had played the
oldest, continuously played golf course in the world –
Musselburgh Links. This 9 hole golf course is a relic from the
“cradle of golf” and was reputedly played by Mary, Queen of Scots in
1567. Musselburgh Town itself has produced many champions like the
Parks, Ferguson, Brown and the Dunn’s.
A short drive along the picturesque East Lothian coastal route
you’ll find Glen Golf Course, a stunningly located golf course that
is the epitome of golf in Scotland. At the right time of the year
you can contemplate your next shot while watching the Gannet’s
diving for fish off the world renowned Bass Rock. However, if
you’re looking for a challenge then travel just a little further to
Dunbar or, if you book early enough in advance, the Muirfield Open
Championship Course. Who can forget how the course “tamed the Tiger”
in the 2002 Championship.
Situated within a mile
of the hotel are two excellent, mature parkland courses -
Broomieknowe & Newbattle. In contrast to the links courses these
both offer tree lined fairways and water hazards that have wonderful
panoramic views of the local countryside. Both of these are 18
hole courses with 1st class facilities for visiting Golfers.
This is just a few suggestions so whatever your preference
there's certain to be a course you'll add to your list of
favourites, so why not come and discover them for yourself.
